About the Hmong People
Hmong Immigration to the United States
Many of the Hmong people living in the United States immigrated,
or their family immigrated, from Laos and other parts of Southeast Asia
after the Vietnam War. The Hmong were allies of the American forces
during the war, many were recruited to help fight the Communist forces
in Laos and Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon in 1975 they were
given political asylum in the United States. Many of them settled
in California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas,
