San Francisco's Chinatown
The oldest Chinatown in North America was established
inthe 1850's during the California Gold Rush period.
The current Chinatown was built after the original
was destroyed by the 1906 earthquakeand subsequent fire.

Los Angeles Chinatown
The original Los Angeles Chinatown that was founded in the late 1800's
was paved over in the 1930's to make room or Union Station and at that
time its businesses and residents were moved to the nearby current
Chinatown site. One of the entrances to ChinaTown Los Angeles is
a traditional arch and another entrances features two dragons
mounted on pillars.
