Official Visitor Center of the Catalina Island Conservancy, an organization established in 1972 as a land trust protecting nearly 90% of the island. The center was constructed in ? on the former site of the Catherine hotel and it first opened on ?.

Their Trailhead Visitor Center on Crescent Avenue in the city of Avalon features information for Catalina visitors and residents about the island'smore than 42,000 acres of open space, 62 miles of shoreline, and many miles of hiking trails. The center is also a portal for the Conservancy's tours and transportation options including their Jeep Eco Tours and the Wildlands Express Shuttle.

The center also has a cafe known as the "Toyon Grill" offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, picnic boxes, and a happy hour every day.
