Catalina Island's only airport for fixed wing aircraft is located high in the hills of the island's interior, about 10 road miles from the city of Avalon and about 14 road miles from Two Harbors Village.

Before the Catalina Aiport was built in 1946 only amphibious aircraft could access Catalina Island. The runway was built by blasting the top off of two mountains and creating a runway between them.

Airport Facilities
The terminal's cafe and gift shop is open daily from about 8:30 am to 4:00 p.m. Also on the airport property is the Catalina Island Conservancy's Airport Nature Center.

Land Transportation at the Airport Transportation to is provided to Avalon by the Airport Shuttle Bus (310-510-0143). Transportation to the Little Harbor Campground and Two Harbors Village is provided by the4 Catalina Safari Shuttle Bus (310-510-7265).
