Information about the Marina del Rey Flyer Ferry to
Catalina Island in Southern California.
Marina del Rey Flyer
The Catalina Flyer ferry from Marina Del Rey to Catalina Island is no longer operating.
In October of 2011 their schedule included crossings 7 days a week
but in November of 2011 they only operated Friday through Sunday.
Not sure when they shut down but judging from
online reader reviews and comments they ceased operations sometime between
February and June of 2012. Marina Flyer passengers boarded at Fisherman's Village
on Fiji Way in Marina del Rey and were transported to either the city of Avalon or
Two Harbors Village on Catalina Island.
The trip took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to Avalon and an additional
45 minutes to Emerald Bay and Two Harbors Village.
and round trip fares including port fees were $90
for most adults, $83 for seniors, $70 for children,
and $9 for babies under age 2. One way fares were half those prices.
Kayaks could be transported
for $40 each and additional luggage (over the 2 pieces allowed) was $30.
The last time I was able to access their Web site was
in early 2012. Note that the Marina del Rey Catalina Flyer
Web site at "catalina ferries dot com" is no longer online.
