Information about the lakes of Kern County.
Isabella Lake
Located at an elevation of about 2,580 feet above
sea leve, about one hour northeast of Bakersfield,
near the point where Highway 178 intersects with
highway 155. Watersports include motorized boating,
fishing, sailing, waterskiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, and fishing.
Other activities include camping, golfing, hiking,
and motocross driving on a track at Cyrus Canyon.
Ming Lake
Reservoir located about ten miles northeast of
Bakersfield. Facilities include boat launching
ramps, two landscaped shorelines, picnic tables,
barbecue grills, children's play ground,
restrooms and parking. Note that swimming is
prohibited in the lake and while waterskiing is allowed
skiiers need to know that the lake's waters have not
been treated.
All boats on the lake must have kern County boat permits. Motorized
watercraft are allowed on the lake most of the time
but on the second full wekend of each month
and also on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons,
only sailboats are allowed.
Woollomes Lake
Located about thirty miles north of Bakersfield and about
three miles southeast of Delano.
