Pine Mountain Lookout Tower Cabin
Rustic cabin built in 1933 that is situated on an outcrop about
4000 feet above sea level, on the western side of Pine Mountain,
overlooking the Van Arsdale area of the Mendocino National Forest.
Guest must bring their own water, food, cooking utensils bedding,
warm clothes for cool evenings, and they must also bring garbage bags
so they they can take their trash with them when they leave.
Note that the bunk bed in the cabin has metal springs, but no box springs or mattress.
The cabin waas built as a lookout in 1933 to protect the lumber mills
in the region and it was part of California's aircraft defense monitoring station
during World War II.
Located about 7 miles northeast of Pillsbury Lake and about
20 miles north of Upper Lake.
