Marine Protected Areas in Marin County
Point Reyes National Seashore
70,000 acre park preserve located on the Point Reyes Peninsula in Marin County.
The area was designated a national seashore in 1962. Visitor attractions
in the area include the Point Reyes Lighthouse, the Point Reyes Lifeboat
Station, which is a National Historic Landmark, a recreated Miwok village
called Kule Loklo. Activities include whale watching and hiking trails
such as the Bear Valley Trail, Earthquake Trail, the Tomales Point Trail.
Hostelling International operates a 45-bed youth hostel and there are
four hike-in campgrounds for backpackers. The Point Reyes National
Seashore is located in California's Marin County.
