SITE NAME: Pioneer Sculpture (DESTROYED)

LOCATION: 27000 South Mooney Boulevard in Visalia
DESCRIPTION:
Statue created by sculptor Solon Borgium that was first
exhibited at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition
in San Francisco. At the end of the exposition the Tulare County
Forestry Board paid $156 to have the statue shipped from
San Francisco to Mooney Grove Park in Visalia.
STATUS:
The statue was toppled by an earthquake in 1980
because it's internal metal had rusted away. Today
only the base of the statue is left. It sits on a grassy
knoll at the park entrance.
