Collins Lake
LAKE TYPE: Reservoir
DAM: Virginia Ranch Dam
RIVER: Dry Creek runoff
LOCATION: About 10 miles northeast of Browns Valley
1600 acre lake and recreation area with 12 miles of shoreline.
Located between the Yuba County city of Marysville and
the Nevada County city of Grass Valley. Facilities
include a sandy swimming beach, a marina, a boat launch,
boat rentals, beach volleyball,
picnic areas, recreational vehicle sites with hook-ups,
laundry facilities, and hot showers. The lake
is stocked every Spring with thousands of trout.
Collins Lake was previously known as the Virginia Ranch Reservoir
and it was created when the Virginia Ranch Dam was built
to provide irrigation water to the Brown's
Valley and Loma Rica communities of Yuba County.

New Bullards Bar Reservoir
Lake created when the New Bullards Bar Dam was constructed
in 1969 and 1970. Popular destinatino for boating, water skiing,
fishing, and camping. Located in the far northeast end of
Yuba County.

New Bullards Bar Dam
Concrete dam across the North Yuba River that was
constructed in 1969 and 1970 for flood control,
irrigation, and to produce hydro-electricity.
It is located near the Yuba County town of Dobbins.
