Rivers Within Inyo County
Bishop Creek
This ten mile long river is the largest tributary of
the Owens River and it has five hydroelectrical plants
owned by Southern California Edison known as
Bishop Creek #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 (Bishop Creek
#1 is no longer operating). Bishop CVreek has three
forks, the North Fork flowing into North Lake,
the Middle Fork flowing into Lake Sabrina, and the South
Fork Flowing into South Lake. Bishop Creek flows into
the Owens river after it passes the city of Bishop.
Big Pine Creek
River about twelve miles long that flows from
the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains into the Owens
Valley where it flows into the Owens River near
the town of Big Pine. A stone cabin on the North
Fork of Big Pine Creek was designed by architect
Paul Williams as a personal retreat for actor
Lon Chaney. That cabin is known as the
Lon Chaney House
and it been designated a United States national historic place.

Rivers in Mono and Inyo Counties
Owens River
River situated in two California counties: Inyo County and Mono County.
The Owens River is ap[proximately 180 miles long, it drains
throughout the Ownes Valley, and it terminates at Ownens Lake,
a mostly dry drainage basin lake located south of the town
of Lone Pine.
Morgan Creek
River about 4 miles long that is situated in two California
counties: Mono County and Inyo County. Morgan Creek
flows into Pine Creek northeast of the point where
Pine Creek and Rock Creek flow isnto the Owens River.
